Sana Shah is a Pakistani-born self taught visual artist whose practice navigates the shifting territory between figuration and abstraction. With a career spanning more than twenty years and shaped by time spent between South Asia and San Francisco, her work reflects a layered dialogue between cultural memory, contemporary gesture, and painterly restraint.

Sana, approaches the canvas as a psychological and poetic space — where bodies, animals, and symbolic forms emerge through rhythm, erosion, and reconstruction. Her compositions often balance stillness with movement, drawing from both classical sensibilities and modern visual language. Rooted in personal narrative yet resonant with universal themes of identity, displacement, and longing, her paintings invite a slow, contemplative engagement that unfolds beyond the immediate image

Her works are always experimental, balancing between realism and abstraction, made in the author’s technique.
